BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 4, 2004 . . . With $10,000 posted for the winner of the Stauffer Construction Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap Modified championship race at Grandview Speedway this Saturday, August 7th, fans can be assured the many of the best talents in dirt track modified stock car racing will be on hand.
Veteran dirt track racing talent Meme DeSantis will be going for a third straight win in the classic and he will have some very tough competition. Three time track champion and current point leader Jeff Strunk is rated as a strong favorite to win the 50-lap race. He already has four feature wins this season.
Doug Manmiller has been to victory lane this season as has multi time champion Craig VonDohren and both are considered strong threats to take home the top prize. In fact there is a long list of modified racing talents that could walk off with the big bucks.
As usual just qualifying for the Forrest Rogers Memorial, run in memory of the man who built the track, will be tough. Just 29 cars will have a chance to qualify and it is expected that will be twice that many racers on hand trying to make the race.
A full show of late model stock car racing will also be part of the Dodge Weekly Series stock car racing events.
Stauffer Construction, sponsor of the night, will pick up the tab for the first 200 youngsters, 6 thru 11, to attend the Saturday night, August 7th events. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
And there will be free pizzas (full size) for 10 adults in the audience courtesy of Stauffer Construction.
Admission for adults is $20.00 for this very special night while youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5.00 and kids under 6 are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Fans are reminded that time is running out to buy chances for the CHAMPIONS TRIP (a trip for two to Aruba) for just $20.00 each. The trip, 8 days and seven nights, is worth $3,000 and includes a luxury hotel, airfare, a meal package and much more. The speedway has been giving this trip to the modified champion and a guest for about 15 years and a guaranteed good time is had by all.
