PLEASE SAY IT ISN’T SO - RAIN ONCE AGAIN CANCELS SATURDAY NIGHT RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – This scenario is repeating itself over and over way too much, with rain, showers or thunderstorms on a Saturday, and another forced cancellation of the racing events for this week at Grandview Speedway.
Heavy overnight rains throughout the Berks County region left Grandview Speedway very soggy Saturday morning, but some sun and wind followed for a period of time giving management the opportunity to forge ahead with the plan to race. However mid-afternoon thundershowers dumped more rain on the already wet facility when the track crew needed to begin the final track preparation, forcing management to throw in the towel and cancel the night’s planned race program.
The May 31 show was to feature the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman plus the Pro 4 Racing Series Four Cylinder stock cars. The Pro 4 series is scheduled to return to Grandview on Saturday, August 30.
Saturday’s program was scheduled to be the ninth race of the year, but instead became the sixth weather/rain cancellation of the year, with Grandview Speedway only completing three full Saturday night race programs, now two months into the 2025 race season.
Grandview Speedway will try again next week with a triple-header NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program featuring the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman, along with the only appearance this season by the United Racing Club (URC) Sprint Cars.
The show on Saturday, June 7 will be sponsored by A.D. Moyer Lumber Company and include qualifying events for all classes leading into a 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature, and 25-lap features for both the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman and the URC Sprint Cars.
Rain checks or pit wristbands from May 17 may be used for the June 7 program, with ticket holders having to pay the added price (adults an extra $8, or students an extra $2, pit prices are the same) or those tickets and wristbands can still be used up to and including the June 14 - T.P. Trailer Modified and T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman program. The June 14 event will be the last night to use the May 17 rainchecks.
Pit gates will open at 4 pm, with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm, warm-ups starting at 6:15 pm, and the first race of the evening getting the green flag at 7:30 pm.
Adult grandstand admission is $28, students 10-15 with ID are $12, while children ages 9 and under are admitted free of charge. Pit admission is $35 for NASCAR members and $45 for non-members.
Grandview Speedway actually has two events scheduled for next weekend, as action begins on Friday, June 6 featuring the Outlaw Racing Series Enduro and Outlaw Racing Series Vintage Cars in action along with the Xcel 600 Modifieds starting at 7 pm.
On Friday night pit gates open at 2 pm, with grandstand gates opening at 6 pm. Grandstand admission will be $10, with children ages 12 and under admitted for free. Pit admission is $35 for the Friday event.
The second Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event is just around the corner on Tuesday, June 17, as Levan Machine & Truck Equipment presents the Jesse Hockett Classic USAC National Sprint Car Series Eastern Storm opener.
This program includes time trials, and qualifying events leading up to the 40-lap feature event that pays $6000 to win. The program also includes the 358 Modifieds with qualifying events and a 30-lap $3000 to win feature, that could pay an added $2000 from Alpine Building Supply if the winning driver is a first time Thunder Series winner.
Saturday, June 21 will see the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman competing in their first Twin 20’s feature event program along with a full show for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds starting at 7:30 pm.
