Looking back at Grandview history during the 1990’s, the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified point championships were won by Craig Von Dohren (1990 & 1992), Tom Mayberry (1991), Duane Howard (1993, 1996 & 1997), Davey Wenger (1994), Ray Swinehart (1995 & 1998), and Terry Meitzler (1999).

Some of Grandview Speedway’s all-time biggest feature winners were either scoring wins early in their careers or in the prime of winning in their careers during the 1990’s.

All-time win leader Craig Von Dohren won 15 of his overall 134 features during the 90’s, while Duane Howard scored 11 of his overall 89 wins during this time, while Jeff Strunk picked up 9 of his overall 90 career victories during the decade of the nineties.

Rick Schaffer scored 19 of his career 51 wins during the decade, while Tom Mayberry picked up 18 of his 34 career wins during the decade as well.

Before the creation of the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman division at Grandview, the Late Model division was a companion class to the Modifieds each week with point championships being won by Dean Stoudt (1990, 1991 &1993), Jon Kellner (1992), John Geisler (1994), Terry Bartik (1995), Ed Aiken (1996), Lou Egrie (1997), Chuck Schutz (1998), and Jeff Teets (1999).

The T. P. Trailer Modifieds have been spreading the wealth around this season, as there have been eight different winners in eight events so far including Brian HIrthler, point leader Brett Kressley, Chris Esposito, Jeff Strunk, John Willman, Duane Howard, Jon Kellner and last week two-time Sportsman Champion Logan Watt added his name to the winner’s list.

These drivers will be leading the field into action this Saturday night including top point contenders Mike Gular, Jared Umbenhauer, Louden Reimert, Craig Von Dohren, Eddie Strada, Tim Buckwalter, Ryan Grim, Kyle Smith, and Doug Manmiller, along with three dozen drivers who will be looking for the checkered flag and a feature win.

So far this season The T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman division has been competitive with five different drivers reaching victory lane in the eight features completed with point leader Colin Cox, Jesse Landis and Addison Meitzler all scoring two wins each, while Lawson Szerencits has also picked up one checkered flag along with Joey Vaccaro, who captured the big Firecracker 40 Championship race last Saturday night.

All of these drivers along with three dozen total will be looking for a win on Saturday including top point drivers Mike Schneck Jr., Kenny Gilmore, Dylan Swinehart, Nathan Mohr, Brett Gilmore, Gavyn Krupp, TJ Mayberry, and Teague Miller.

Fast approaching on the Grandview race schedule is the 55th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap Championship race for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds on Saturday, August 9, along with a complete show for the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman starting at 7:30 pm.
