BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 20, 2009 . . . For the ninth consecutive season RCN-TV, headquartered in Lehigh Valley, PA, will be offering their viewers tape-delayed broadcast coverage of six NASCAR sanctioned stock car racing events from Grandview Speedway. The season officially gets the green flag on Saturday, April 4th, 7 p.m. with a doubleheader show that features the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Model stock cars. Both divisions will run a full series of qualifying events leading up to a 40-lap feature for the Modifieds and a 20-lap main event for the Late Models. The NASCAR Modified feature will pay $3,000 to win. Seven time track modified champion Jeff Strunk will kick off his campaign to win an unprecedented eighth title while Chuck Schutz will go for his second straight late model championship and fourth career title. RCN-TV will broadcast the season opener with RCN4 in Lehigh Valley carrying the tape-delayed coverage along with RCN8 in Delaware County, PA and Pottstown, PA Community Television. “It is great to have RCN back offering the great coverage of our events,” said track promoter Bruce Rogers. “The television coverage has attracted new fans to our events over the years and it has been a great selling point for our racers looking for sponsors.” The RCN-TV coverage gives viewers two-hours of top quality video of the heats and feature events along with victory lane interviews, news updates and more. Veteran media person Randy Kane, involved with the RCN shows for 27 years, will be back as part of the broadcast team along with well known photographer/writer Mike Feltenberger. Videographer Gary Silverman provides a lot of the action footage. RCN offers a video on demand library for all viewers so that they can catch up on shows they may have missed. Fans will have the opportunity to see many of their favorites in action during the annual free-to-the-public practice session that is set for Saturday, March 28th starting at noon. Many modified and late model racers will be testing and tuning their race cars. The practice is also open to sprint cars, midgets, Legends, and other divisions of competition. The 2008 practice session attracted well over 100 race teams. This will be the 47th consecutive season of professional stock car racing at Grandview Speedway with NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models in action on Saturday nights throughout the season. Special attractions such as URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, Legends and other competition will be included during the season. In addition to Saturday night racing action there will be six Thunder on the Hill promotions presented on weeknights during the season and eight NEETS Enduro events taking place on Sundays starting with the April 26th show. A full schedule of events planned for 2009 can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com and that schedule includes the dates that will have RCN-TV broadcast coverage. Grandview Speedway, a one-third-mile, banked clay speedway, is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information telephone 610.754.7688.
