SOME CHANGES ANNOUNCED FOR GRANDVIEW LATE MODEL RACERS
Sunday, January 23, 2011

BECHTELSVILLE, PA  With the 2011 season in the planning stages Grandview Speedway management has announced a few rule/spec changes for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Models that continue to be a regular attraction at the one-third-mile, banked clay speedway.
Central Pennsylvania Late Models, using cast iron flat tappet 358 engines, will be legal for competition at Grandview provided they have 650 carburetors and mufflers.
Crate Late Models will now be allowed at Grandview as long as they use a gas carburetor and they will have a 100 lb. weight break. A $50 bonus will be paid to a Late Model feature winner using a crate motor.
“These changes will make it possible for racers from other tracks to come to Grandview perhaps on nights when their regular home track does not have them included in the show,” said promoter Bruce Rogers. “The rule changes will open the door for visitors and that should help create even more excitement than the Late Models already create on a weekly basis.”
Racers in both divisions, Late Models and 358 Modifieds, should be aware that a Halon on board Fire System with nozzle that is within reach of the driver is mandatory.
Racers planning to compete at Grandview should check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com to see all changes, some minor changes for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, in the rules section. It is the responsibility of visiting racers to be sure that their equipment conforms with the Grandview rules and specs.
The 2011 season at Grandview Speedway will kick off with a free-to-the-public, practice session on Saturday, March 26th at noon. The practice is open to all divisions of racing.
The chase for the lucrative point titles with thousands of dollars at stake will officially get the green flag on Saturday, April 2nd when the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models will be seen in a doubleheader show. The first race of the 49th consecutive season of racing at Grandview Speedway will get the green at 7 p.m.
Racing will start at 7 p.m. each Saturday during the month of April with action switching to a 7:30 p.m. start for the balance of the season with the first show of May.
The NEETS Enduro racers will kick off their season with a Sunday, April 3rd show starting at 2 p.m.
