FORECAST OF RAIN, COLD, WIND AND MORE RAIN CANCELS SATURDAY GRANDVIEW RACING ACTION........SIDEWINDER SPRINTS JOIN MODS AND LATE MODELS FOR APRIL 23RD TRIPLEHEADER PLUS EASTER EGG HUNT FOR KIDS.
Saturday, April 16, 2011

BECHTELSVILLE, PA  The forecast of heavy rain, the kind that had Noah building an arc and herding the animals two by two, bone chilling cold weather plus strong winds  forced promoter Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday night doubleheader show of stock car racing at Grandview Speedway. The doubleheader would have included the NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modifieds and Late Models in action.
“Let’s hope that is the first and last rainout for the 2011 season,” said Rogers. “We made the call to cancel based on the forecast that had an 80 to 100% chance of rain. We don‘t usually call them this early but with the cost of gas and such a strong forecast for bad weather we wanted to allow our fans and racers to make other plans.”
Racing returns to the NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay track on Saturday, April 23rd at 7 p.m. with a tripleheader card of racing action being planned. Included in the excitement will be a full slate of qualifying events leading up to a 30-lap feature for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, a 20-lap main event for the Late Models and 15 laps for the visiting Sidewinder Sprint cars. This will be the first of just two visits for the Sidewinders at Grandview this season. Also included in the evening will be a Easter Egg Hunt for the kids.
Fans will be coming out to see if defending NASCAR 358 Modified champion Duane Howard can make it three wins in a row. He will have strong competition from the likes of Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Mike Gular, Meme DeSantis, Ray Swinehart and a host of others. The Late Model action will see former champion Chuck Schutz and Danny Snyder looking for their second wins of the young season.
Admission for the special tripleheader show will be $15 for adults while young people, 6 through 11, pay just $5 and under 6 are admitted FREE. There is always FREE parking on the speedway grounds.
Coming up at Grandview Speedway on April 30th is Auto Locator magazine night featuring the 358 Modifieds and Late Models while on Sunday, May 1st, 1 p.m. the NEETS Enduro racers return to action along with the Outlaw Slingshots.
