The weekend of excitement at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway kicks off with the biggest late model racing event of the season when the Curt J. High & Associates Firecracker 40 is presented on Saturday, July 2nd with racing action starting at 7:30 p.m. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be included in the night of racing excitement with Chuck Schutz, late model point leader, and Duane Howard, 358 modified point leader, heading up the action. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. FIREWORKS, always a great attraction at Grandview, will be part of the Fourth of July weekend show. And four kids will go home with bicycles courtesy of Kory Fleming and his Sleepy Hollow late model racing team. Admission for adults is $20 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE. During the course of the night there will be a collection taken up for long time auto racing supporter and Area Auto Racing News reporter Ciddi Cinelli who passed way back on Sunday, June 19th. There are considerable funeral expenses and expenses that built up over her final weeks with little or no insurance coverage. On Sunday, July 3rd, the NEETS Enduro racers will see action in a 107 lap race for Big Cars and a 104 lap race for Small Cars plus a Ladies race. In addition the Outlaw Slingshots will race in qualifying events leading up to a 25-lap feature race. Warmups at 12:30 p.m. and racing at 1 p.m. Admission is $10.
