Thursday, August 23, 2012

BECHTELSVILLE, PA  The Sidewinder Sprints will be the added attraction at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. This will be the only appearance of the season for the always exciting Sidewinder Sprints as they join the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman stock cars for a huge four division show of racing sponsored by Kauffman’s BBQ Chicken of Bethel, PA.
Even with an added division of racing the admission price for adults will remain at just $15 while youngsters 12 and under will be admitted FREE for the Saturday, August 25th show that has a 7:30 p.m. starting time.
With just three point races remaining for the NASCAR stock cars each event becomes more important as the chase for the lucrative championships continue at the one-third-mile, banked clay oval.
Duane Howard, winner of eight feature races in the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, continues to lead in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modified standings and a championship can be worth well in excess of $10,000 for the Oley, PA racer.
Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) is moving closer to his sixth Late Model title and the battle for the Sportsman stock car title continues to be close between Jared Umbenhauser (Richland) and Craig Whitmoyer (Hamburg).
At least 12 events of racing will make up the Saturday night show.
Kauffman’s BBQ will have can coolies for the first 300 fans through the main gate and their Chicken Man will be visiting the grandstands to give out some samples.
