Press Release
Monday, September 10, 2012

The biggest event in the history of the Grandview Speedway is set to take place on Saturday, September 15th with the running of the $50,000 to win 50th Anniversary BPG Racing Freedom 76 (42nd annual).

Tech inspection runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, September 14th and continues on Saturday. Those who have their race car teched on Friday and choose to take it out of the pits will have to go through tech again when they return. Pits will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 15th. All race cars must be signed in by 4:30 p.m. on race day. Entry fee on race day is $150 (includes one pit pass). Pit passes are priced at $50. No NASCAR license is required.

I know someone will ask so I will tell you that the early entry fee is $120.

ADVANCE tickets will be on sale from noon until 5 p.m. at the track on Friday, September 14th.† Advance ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. with the ticket windows opening at 3:30 p.m.

JUST ANNOUNCED!!! Tickets may be ordered at 610.754.7688 and held for pick up on race day.

CREDIT CARDS AND ATM: The speedway does not accept credit cards and does not have access to an ATM.

SEASON TICKET HOLDERS are entitled to their season long reserved seat. Those seats are clearly marked and numbered.

SAVING SEATS: Saving seats for others is allowed on a limited basis but please do not turn into a SEAT HOG.

CAMPERS: There are some campers on the property at present but nowhere near the number that some rumors are indicating. (I was just there) We are asking that campers plan to place their campers in the fourth turn parking area or across the street from the fourth turn area. There is no block parking of campers and no roping off of areas.

PARKING: There is free parking on speedway grounds. Additional parking can be found in areas surrounding the speedway and there will be a small fee.

RACE TIME: Warm-ups will start at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting the green at 7 p.m.

PERSONAL SIZE COOLERS ONLY, no larger than 12 x 12 x 12 will be allowed and must be kept in front of your seat.

ADDITIONAL Porta John facilities have been put in place.

THERE IS NO FANFEST this year because of the space being needed to handle the large number of race cars expected.

GUARANTEED STARTERS FOR THE BPG RACING FREEDOM 76:† Guaranteed starters are Duane Howard, Danny Johnson, Billy Decker and Kevin Hirthler. They get to run at the rear of a qualifying heat race and get to draw for a starting spot in the Freedom 76. Winners of the Freedom 76 since 1987 are invited to make a qualifying attempt and should they fall short of qualifying they will be given a starting spot at the rear of the starting field for the Freedom 76.

Since we have no real idea how many racers will be entered for the BPG Racing Freedom 76 we do not know how many will run in the big race. At present, TENTATIVE PLAN IS to run eight heat races, consolations and the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20 followed by the Mertz Flying Mullet Cash Dash ($1500 to win) with the four guaranteed starters and the heat winners featured. The BPG Racing Freedom 76 will be run after that. There will be a fuel stop.

EACH STARTER IN THE FREEDOM 76 will earn at least $400.

LAP MONEY: There is over $3,000 in lap money to be paid out along with a variety of other awards that were outlined in a full page ad in the most recent edition of Area Auto Racing News.

LAP SPONSORS and other award sponsors will be shown on the electronic message board, in the 52 page BPG Racing Freedom 76 Yearbook/Program and will be announced on the public address system. Our thanks go out to all of them.

BIRTHDAY ANNOUNCEMENTS: We do make birthday announcements as long as they are birthdays that have taken place in the current week. They should be written legibly and brought to the announcerís booth.

ON A FUN NOTE: As in the past I am glad to read poetry submitted by fans (nothing obscene or offensive). However to have a poem read will mean that you will have to post at least $10 in lap money. The more money you post the better I am able to read. ---- Ernie Saxton (announcer)
