Just two events remain in the battle for the point titles
at Grandview Speedway. The closest battle is in the NASCAR Late Model division
with Jason Miller, without benefit of a feature win, using consistent
performances to lead the standings. The New Tripoli racer has just a 24 point
edge over six time champion Chuck Schutz as he tries for his very first
Grandview title. Green Laneís Danny Snyder is 49 points behind Miller while
Wayne Pfeil Jr. is 114 points out of first. All that can change. In fact there
are six drivers that could walk off with the title. However for any of them to
have a shot at the championship they will have to do well this Saturday night,
And in the primary division of
competition, the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Craig VonDohren has a significant lead in
the point battle as he tries to lay claim to his seventh track title. Duane
Howard, winner of nine features, is second in points and would need a lot of
good luck on his end and a lot of bad luck on VonDohrenís end to turn the tide
and win his sixth title.
Jared Umbenhauer has a comfortable
lead in the Sportsman standings over veteran Kenny Gilmore, who won two features
last weekend at the Bechtelsville clay oval. Umbenhauer is going for his second

action as many drivers in all three divisions try to improve their positions in
the lucrative point battles. At least 12 events of racing will be featured on

NASCAR stock car racing gets the
green flag at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Adult admission is $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted free. A meet
and greet featuring a racer and race car from each division will take place at
5:30 p.m. at the main gate.
