Bechtelsville, PA May 3, 2009 . . . For the first time since September, 2005 Ray Swinehart was able to return to victory lane at Grandview Speedway winning the 30-lap National Earth Services NASCAR Whelen modified stock car feature race on Saturday night. Former late model champion Ron Kline took the top honors in the 20-lap main event for the NASCAR late models.

The win for Swinehart (Bechtelsville) was his first at Grandview since he picked up $20,000 for winning the BPG Racing Freedom 76 in 2005. The veteran driver said the crew made a couple changes after their race at Big Diamond Raceway the night before that made a difference. The former track champion pointed out that he felt Brad Missimer had the race won but hit a rut in turn two and he was able to get a run off turn two and grab the lead and the win.

Bobby Gunther Walsh put his Ironton Telephone No. 100 in front of the† 30 car starting field at the drop of the green and hold the lead until Brad Missimer was able to get by him on a restart after a caution on the 8th lap. Once in front the young racer looked like was going to be able to hold the top spot until the finish and get his first feature victory.

Missimer was able to hold off the challengers after a few caution restarts but on the 26th lap Missimer caught a rut in turn two that moved him out of the groove and made room for challenger Swinehart to get under him and out power him to get first spot.

Billy Pauch Jr. (Frenchtown, NJ) was also able to get by Missimer in the closing laps and put some pressure on Swinehart and his Scrap USA No. 33 but his efforts fell short as he was forced to settle for second. Missimer (Bechtelsville) brought the Schaefer Motorsports No. 327 home third followed by Jon Kellner Sr. (Lansdale) and Mike Gular (Green Lane). The victory for Swinehart was worth $2,200.

Despite being involved in an early race accident with Jason Hamilton that sent him to the back of the pack Duane Howard came back to finish ninth and hold on to the point lead in the modified standings.

†It took no less than three cautions for a variety of spins and tangles to get the first lap in the record books for the late models with Kyle Merkel able to set the pace.

In fact the first 16 laps were pretty much the Kyle Merkel and Mike Kellner show as the two broke away from the rest of the field and seemed to be running their own race.

However the two leaders got caught up in a spin by a slower car on the 16th circuit that put Merkel to the back of the pack and Kellner out of the race.

Rick Todorow took over on the restart but his lead was short lived as just one lap later Ron Kline charged to the front with Randy Stoudt close behind.

At the finish Kline (Green Lane) in his Watash Speed Shop/Harleysville Mattress No. 3 was just a narrow margin in front of second place Randy Stoudt (Pottstown). Brian Shuey (Shoemakersville) came home third followed by Danny Snyder (East Greenville) and Chuck Schutz (Pottstown).

With the win Kline moved into first spot in the point chase as he goes after his second track late model title.

Qualifying heat races for the modifieds were won by Jon Kellner Jr., Duane Howard, Brad Missimer and Cliff Quinn. Consolation victories were earned by Sean Merkel and John Willman.

In the late model qualifiers victories went to John Favinger, Chuck Schutz and Wayne Pfeil.

The Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger awards were earned by Mike Gular in the modified feature going from 17th to 5th while Brian Shuey took the award in the late models charging from 18th to 3rd.

The Danís Deli Halfway Leader award in the modifieds went to Brad Missimer and in the late models it went to Kyle Merkel.

ARDC wingless midgets join the action on Saturday, May 9th along with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models. It will be Dover International Speedway Promo Night with fans having the opportunity to win tickets to their races and other prizes. Saturday, May 16th will be Wink Motorsports Night featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models as the chase for the championships continue.†
