RAIN WASHES OUT FEATURE RACING AT GRANDVIEW
Saturday, May 16, 2009

BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 16, 2009 . . . Despite a great effort by the racers and the track crew they just were not able to move things along fast enough to beat the rain. A drenching downpour brought an end to racing action at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night with just eight laps of the planned 30 lap Troy Wink Motorsports NASCAR 358 Modified feature race completed.

Tommy Scheetz Jr. grabbed the lead on the first lap of the modified feature and set the pace throughout the eight laps that were completed before the rains came. NASCAR 358 Modified point leader Duane Howard was nursing a right rear flat tire when the red flag came out bringing a halt to the racing action.

Qualifying heats for the modifieds were won by Todd Marburger, Kyle Follweiler, Jason Smythe and Tommy Scheetz III while the consolation race wins went to Ryan Godown and Mike Gular. Qualifying wins for the late models were earned by Kyle Merkel, Brian Shuey and Chuck Schutz.

The 22 laps remaining in the modified feature will be run as the first event on Saturday, May 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Once the modified feature is complete a full show of NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock car racing action will be presented and sponsored by Whelen. The first 500 paying adult fans through the front gate will receive a free ticket for the Pocono Raceway ARCA race set for June 6th. The late model feature rained out on Saturday night will be run as the first event on Saturday, May 30th.

Then on Sunday, May 24th, 2:30 p.m. the second of a series of eight NEETS Enduros will be presented featuring a 100-lapper for the 4-cylinder competitors and a 100-lapper for the 6/8 cylinder racers.

On Saturday, May 30th the NASCAR modifieds and late models will be in action with both divisions topping their show with 30-lap features. The late model feature will be a memorial to racers, officials and others involved with Grandview Speedway who have passed away. There will also be a one-on-one gauntlet competition for the late models.
That night racing will get the green at 7:30 p.m.
