BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 17, 2009 . . . Late model stock car racing will be the featured attraction on Saturday night, June 20th, when the $1,000 to win Memorial race is presented to remember past racers, officials and others who were involved at Grandview Speedway and are now deceased.
The Memorial, the brainchild of track employee Mark Garman, is one of the major events of the season for the NASCAR late models. In addition to the standard qualifying events leading up to the 30-lap Memorial feature there will be one-on-one gauntlet racing with the “survivor” walking off with the major share of the $500 in prize money.
The late models have had seven different winners in nine feature races run so far this season so that indicates competition for the 30-lap Memorial victory will be tough.
In addition to the excitement of the late models, the NASCAR 358 modifieds will be in action with a full series of qualifying events leading up to a 30-lap main event, paying $2,200 to win, that will start at least 28 cars. The modifieds have had nine different winners in the nine features presented this season. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $13.
Fans will get a chance to take part in an exciting contest that will see one of those entering having an entire night of racing named after them thanks to sponsor BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports. Fans are invited to send an e-mail/letter to Esaxton144@aol.com, 100 words or less, explaining why they feel a race night should be named after them.
The winner of the contest will be able to bring seven friends to the races on July 18th and watch from the sponsor suite. In addition they will all go to victory lane for both features. All advertising and promotion will refer to the race night as their night. All entries must be submitted by July 4th and entries will be accepted at the track.
Again this week the Grandview Groove, official track magazine, offers some great stories on modified racer Shawn Reimert (written by Brett Deyo) and late model racer Nate Christman (by Chris Noble of www.thegreatestshowondirt.com). As usual fans purchasing program books will have the opportunity to win a variety of great prizes as are lucky rain check holders. The program book is always at least 36 pages thick with full color covers and loads of pictures along with latest points, race results, pit notes and much more.
On Father’s Day, June 21st, the third NEETS Enduro of the season takes place at 2:30 p.m. A 100-lapper for 4 cylinder racers and 100-lapper for 6/8 cylinder racers will be the attraction.
Coming up on Saturday, June 27th is a tripleheader show featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Legends.
