BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 14, 2009 . . . “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” is a well worn old saying that Grandview Speedway promoter Bruce Rogers will put to the test this Saturday, September 19th. The BPG Racing Freedom 76, a dirt track modified stock car racing classic, was rained out last Saturday and has been rescheduled for this Saturday with racing action scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
“We are hoping that we will only need one try to get the rained out show in,” said Rogers. “If not, if weather creates another postponement, we will run this event on Saturday, October 3rd. We will run the BPG Racing Freedom 76.”
Many of the top names in dirt track modified racing will be on hand to challenge Ryan Godown as he goes for his third big dollar event victory of the season. Godown won the Forrest Rogers Memorial worth $10,000 and then added Big Diamond’s Coalcracker 100 worth $11,000. The BPG Racing Freedom 76 offers $20,000 plus lap money for the Saturday victory.
Advance and season ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. Ticket windows will open at 3:30 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $25, 6 thru 11 pay $10 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE.
Fans are invited to be part of the LineX of Lehigh Valley Freedom Fest starting at 1 p.m. Included will be a dunk tank featuring a variety of personalities, tire changing contest, driver interviews, photo and autograph opportunities and a chance for kids to decorate Troy Wink’s race car and watch it race that night. The Freedom Fest will end at 4 p.m. New BPG Racing Freedom 76 t-shirts and souvenir Freedom 76 program and yearbook will be available.
Rogers has also announced that in 2010 the BPG Racing Freedom 76 will be run one week later with a Saturday, September 18th date and a Saturday, September 25th rain date. The schedule change will keep the Freedom 76 from conflicting with the very popular NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway that is scheduled for September 11th.
With the BPG Racing Freedom 76 rained out on September 12th and rescheduled for Saturday, September 19th, the 3 Starz Inc. Landscaping “Wings and Things” open competition racing show, that was planned for September 19th, has been taken off the schedule.
A NEETS Enduro is set for Sunday, September 27th at 2:30 p.m. A five feature Thunder on the Hill Halloween Spectacular will take place on Saturday, October 17th and that will close out the racing season at the Berks County clay oval.
