Bechtelsville, Pa. ? Duane Howard, the opening night feature winner in the 358 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series modified feature at Grandview Speedway, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1/3-mile Berks Co. oval, continued his winning ways on Saturday night. The former champion wrestled the lead away from Glenn Strunk on the 21st lap restart and later had to contend with challenges from Craig Von Dohren on occasions plus lap traffic. Howard, behind the wheel of the BPG/Blue Bell Air, overcame all obstacles and went on to win the 50-lap event by a comfortable margin for a $4,000 payday plus contingency awards to claim back-to-back victories in the event broadcast by RCN-TV station, Allentown.


Meme DeSantis stopped on the backstretch to bring out the caution before a lap could be completed ending his night. On the restart outside polesitter Mike Weinert charged into the early lead with Ron Seltmann Jr., Shawn Reimert, Glenn Strunk and Addison Meitzler in pursuit.


The next yellow was brought out by Kevin Hirthler?s stopped car in the fourth turn on the fifth lap. Weinert was still in command on the restart with second through fifth shuffled around and now comprised of Reimert, G. Strunk, Ray Swinehart and A. Meitzler.


G. Strunk overtook second on the 10th lap restart caused when Doug Manmiller came to a rest in the fourth turn and at the same time Chris Esposito pulled into the infield. After a quick pit stop both rejoined the race.


While Weinert and G. Strunk dueled for first, coming through the pack from his 16th starting grid was Howard as he now held down third while Swinehart and Reimert completed the top five.
