BECHTELSVILLE, PA. ? Jared Umbenhauer, the defending
Grandview Speedway NASCAR Sportsman point champion and current point leader,
started in the Lucky 13 starting grid on Saturday night for the running of the
40-lap Summer Splash NASCAR Sportsman feature sponsored by Bashore Trucking and
BFP Specialty. He gradually worked his way through the pack since he could put
the Eastern Rigging No. 5 anywhere he wanted to getting a good bite up top. By
the 21st lap he closed in on Ron Krex, the leader from the initial green.
Following a brief battle, Umbenhauer dove to the inside of Krex on the 25th lap
to become the new leader.

Umbenhauer went on to capture his third win of the season
and it was ironic that it was the same night car owner Barry Bashore was also
one of the race sponsors. In addition to the top prize money Umbenhauer also
received $100 from TP Trailers.

Polesitter Krex took the early lead followed by Erik
Renninger, Tommy Scheetz II, Kirby Sites and Joe Fanelli.

Krex built up a comfortable lead by the seventh lap, but by
now Scheetz II, Renninger, Kenny Gilmore and Umbenhauer were in pursuit.
Attempting to get into the top five were Mike Lisowski and Kevin Beach Jr.

Umbenhauer advanced to second on the 20th lap after he
diced with Scheetz II for eight laps for the spot and took chase after Krex,
who along with the others, had to deal with lap traffic.

It wasn?t long before Umbenhauer closed the gap and by the
24th lap the pair jockeyed for the lead. Krex ran the high line while
Umbenhauer stuck to the inside lane.
