BECHTELSVILLE, PA. ? Duane Howard admitted in victory lane
after winning his sixth 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified
feature sponsored by Bechtelsville Car Wash and A-Z Furniture that the past
couple of Saturday nights at Grandview Speedway were tough, but through the aid
of Nick Gatto getting the motor running on gas, the team is back on track.
Howard passed Todd Smith on the 20th lap and never looked back.
Howard also received $250 from TP Trailers, $150 in products from VP Fuels plus
$50 from Bobby Gunther-Walsh and sponsors for the Hard Charger.
Sean Merkel, who was denied a victory in the 25-lap NASCAR
Late Model feature the previous week crossed the finish line by a comfortable
margin over runner-up Chuck Schutz to claim his first win of the year in the
Kochel Equipment No. 118. Merkel, who claimed his third career win, was not in
victory lane since July 14, 2007. He also received $100 from TP Trailers and
was the Dan?s Deli ?-way hoagie mark recipient.
In the 25-lap NASCAR Sportsman feature Brett Kressley
overtook Tom Miller for the lead with two laps to go and went on to win his
fourth feature at the oval. He ran on foot to the winner?s s circle since the
power steering broke after claiming the victory and the car was stopped in the
first turn. In addition to $100 from TP Trailers he was also the Searock Lawn
Care Hard Charger recipient.
Smith grabbed the early lead at the onset of the modified
main and had to thwart off the bids of Mike Laise, Jon Kellner Jr., Don Norris
Jr. and Kyle Weiss.
