Bechtelsville, Pa. ? Ray Swinehart, behind the wheel of his own/Graber Letterin? No. 33, dove to the inside of leader Jason Clauss and into the lead on the 17th lap of the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series modified feature on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. Swinehart, who hasn?t visited victory lane at the 1/3-mile oval since May 2, 2009, never looked back and went on to the win his first feature of the season at the track in the event sponsored by WNPV 1440 AM Radio. In addition to the top prize money he also received $200 from TP Trailers.


Jim Bagley, former modified driver, was the honorary starter and at the wave of the green Eric Biehn, the polesitter, set the pace for one lap before the only yellow of the race waved for a multi-car accident between the first and second turn. Eliminated were Jon Kellner Jr., Jarrad Miller and Carroll Hine III.


Clauss, a rookie and former URC sprint driver, charged into the lead on the restart and within no time the outside polesitter built up a comfortable lead.


Chasing Clauss down were Biehn, Todd Smith, Brad Missimer and Swinehart.


Swinehart, ninth place starter, moved into third on the seventh lap and four laps later held down the runner-up spot in pursuit of Clauss.


At the conclusion of the Dan?s Deli ?-way mark, Swinehart was closing fast and was right on his bumper by the 16th circuit.


The lead changed hands when Swinehart put the R&R Machine Shop mount into first on the 17th lap.


While Swinehart showed the way, the battle for positions behind him was hot and heavy between Clauss, Smith, Missimer and Meme DeSantis.
