Bechtelsville, Pa. ? Jeff Strunk, driving the Glenn Hyneman-owned/Gold Rush Trailers No. 126, was running third when leader Craig Von Dohren and Doug Manmiller made contact on the 25th lap restart that eliminated Von Dohren and snapped his win streak. Strunk charged past Manmiller and into the lead on the restart and went on to capture his fourth 30-lap NASCAR All-American Whelen Racing Series modified feature on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway enroute to his seventh point title. Strunk had an extra reason to celebrate as he recently had a birthday and his present was worth over $2,000 in the event sponsored by WNPV-AM radio.

Honorary starter Harry ?The Wild Thing? Turner gave the green and rookie Kurt Spotts charged into the lead being challenged by Bobby Gunther-Walsh, Troy Wink, Chris Esposito and John Tschudy.

The red had to be thrown on the third lap when Terry Meitzler flipped along the homestretch with Chris Gambler and Tom Umbenhauer also involved. Meitzler was uninjured, but the car sustained heavy damage. Umbenhauer was also out of contention. Spotts maintained the lead with the order behind him comprised of Gunther-Walsh, Wink, Tschudy and Don Norris Jr.

Working his way to the front of the pack from his 15th starting berth was Von Dohren to see if he could make it a three-peat and at the conclusion of eight laps he was in the runner-up position.

Spotts and Von Dohren dueled for several laps while Wink, Tschudy and Norris battled for third through fifth.

Von Dohren overtook Spotts for the lead on the 14th lap.

Positions behind Von Dohren, who was approaching lap traffic, were constantly changing as at the end of 20 laps Manmiller, Strunk, Spotts and Wink were chasing him down.

Spotts fine fourth-place run ended on the 24th lap when he came to a rest against the first turn wall bringing out the yellow. At the same time Norris Jr. pitted with a flat left front tire. On the restart Von Dohren took Manmiller up high along the homestretch giving him no running room. Neither one gave in, Von Dohren spun and hit the first turn wall and Miller kept going as the restart was brought back to the line. On the next attempt Strunk put the Touch of Green Landscaping/Lombardo powered car into the number one position with Manmiller, Ryan Godown, Rick Schaffer and Kevin Hirthler in tow.

With two laps to go Godown overtook second and set sail after Strunk.

Time ran out as no one was able to catch Strunk and he pulled into the winner?s circle to chalk up his 50th win at the 1/3-mile oval. Finishing in the runner-up spot was Godown, who really made an all out effort to overtake Strunk at the end, and also received the Cornerstone Auto Sales Hard Charger Award followed by Manmiller, Schaffer, who posted his best finish and Hirthler. Rounding out the top ten were Sean Merkel, Wink, Jason Hamilton, Todd Smith and Cliff Quinn.
