BECHTELSVILLE, PA. ? Duane Howard hopped in his BPG No. 4 backup car to attempt to qualify via the consi after he had issues in the heat race on Saturday night. The defending NASCAR Modified point champion started 24th in the Forrest Rogers Memorial/Pioneer Pole Building NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 50-lap Modified feature and by the 34th lap got past Jeff Strunk after a fierce battle and set his sights on leader Craig Von Dohren.

Howard reeled Von Dohren in as the pack had to deal with lap traffic racing one another in the back and didn?t heed the move over flag or the radio message. Howard caught up with Von Dohren, the current point leader, by the 43rd lap to engage in a torrid side-by-side battle and neither one gave up.

With five laps to go Von Dohren got trapped behind the lap car of Don Norris Jr. Howard jeopardized on the situation and became the new leader. Howard held on the rest of the way to win his eighth race of the season at the 1/3-mile oval and his second Forrest Rogers Memorial winning the prestigious event in 2010 for a hefty $10,000+ payday. Howard commented in victory lane thanking the Alan Finch-led crew for their constant support and efforts that the lap traffic has to learn to heed the signals and warnings. He hated how it happened, but he had no problems taking the win. He earned $250 from T.P. Trailers, the Bobby Gunther-Walsh and sponsors Hard Charger award for $50, plus $150 in products from VP Racing Fuels.

Before the first lap could be recorded in the 43rd running of the event, Kyle Follweiler got crossed up somewhat coming out of turn four for the green that triggered a multi-car accident. Nate Christman did a slow roll and landed on top of Tim Buckwalter and Jordan Umbenhauer plus others were also involved. Christman, Buckwalter and Umbenhauer were all eliminated.

Jon Kellner Jr., out of action the last two weeks, took the early lead on the restart with Eric Biehn, Justin Grim, Jon Kellner and Todd Smith in pursuit.
