BECHTELSVILLE, PA. ? Duane Howard continues to rack up the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified feature victories at Grandview Speedway. The defending point champion captured his ninth win of the season on Saturday night when he won the 30-lap Modified feature sponsored by RCN-TV.


Jon Kellner Jr. motored his self-owned No. 67 into the early lead at the drop of the green while Justin Grim, Eric Biehn and Mike Laise jockeyed for positions.


By the sixth lap Kellner Jr. had a commanding lead built up over the 29-car starting grid.


The pack regrouped on the 16th lap restart needed when Ryan Kunkle stopped in the fourth turn. Kellner Jr. maintained the lead on the restart, but by this time positions behind him consisted of Jeff Strunk, J. Grim, Meme DeSantis and Nate Christman.


DeSantis made it a three-way battle for the lead between Kellner Jr., Strunk and himself when he advanced to third on the 18th lap to challenge.


Frank Cozze brought out the next caution on the 24th lap when he stopped against the third turn wall and rejoined the race after a quick pit stop. Kellner Jr. and Strunk were side-by-side when action continued, unfortunately going into turns one and two Kellner Jr. spun with Kevin Hirthler also involved as he had nowhere to go. Both were out of action. This handed the lead over to Strunk, looking for his first win at the track in 2013. The restart put veterans Strunk, inside and DeSantis, outside, alongside one another. As the pair cross the finish line contact was made and both ended up in the first turn wall. Strunk?s steering broke prior to the incident and was through for the night, however, DeSantis continued.
