Bechtelsville, Pa. ? Eighty NASCAR modified cars entered to pits to attempt to earn a berth in the 42nd annual BPG Freedom 76-lap race on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. It was anyone?s guess as to who would go home with a $50,000+ payday.

Eight qualifying heats, four consies, a Cash Dash and a Minuteman 20 later, Jeff Strunk answered everyone?s question. He motored the Norm Hansell-owned No. 357 into the lead on the 11th lap, lost it briefly to Meme DeSantis, regained it, then squashed Stewart Friesen?s bid and later held off Bobby Varin, who did pass Strunk on lap 58, and went on to win the event for the fourth time ? the last win in the race coming in 2007.

In addition to the top prize money Strunk earned lap money, which included $250 from V&M Towing for lap 44, $500 from Area Auto Racing News for being the ?-way leader plus $250 from T.P. Trailers. Strunk dedicated the win to his grandmother Mamie and good friend Will Swoyer.

Through the luck of the draw, Brad Missimer started on the pole with J. Strunk on the outside pole.

Missimer took the early lead and set the pace for two laps for the 38-car starting field before third place starter Billy Pauch Jr. moved into the lead on the third circuit.

While Pauch Jr. showed the way around the 1/3-mile oval, Missimer, Strunk, Meme DeSantis, a three-time winner of the race; and Brad Grim jockeyed for positions.

Strunk overtook the lead on the 11th lap just as the yellow came out for a third turn tangle involving Norris Jr. and Jeremy Banos. At the same time Ryan Godown pitted with a flat tire. He returned in time to finish ninth.
