THUNDER ON HILL GEARS UP FOR 32ND YEAR AT GRANDVIEW, NAPA BACK AS SERIES SPONSOR, LEVAN MACHINE & TRUCK EQUIPMENT RETURNS AS ASSOCIATE SPONSOR
BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . Thunder on the Hill returns to Grandview Speedway for its’ thirty-second season in 2021.
In the summer of 1990, Grandview Speedway owners Bruce and Theresa Rogers, Modified/Sprint Car Champion Dave Kelly and racing publicist Bob Miller met at the Bally Hotel to discuss running a 410 sprint car show at Grandview Speedway in August of 1990. The group discussed the challenges of such a show as well as the potential rewards if that first race comes off a success. Needless to say, the show was a big win even after battling the weather for most of the day of the event. The 410 Sprint stand-alone show saw Stevie Smith and his Black Bandit #19 parked in the Grandview victory lane collecting the $5,000 winner’s share. READ MORE... |

HIRTHLER, BELTZ & HOWARD TOP 50 CAR FIELD OF MODIFIEDS TO SHARE TRIPLE 20 WINS SATURDAY NIGHT IN THUNDER SERIES AT GRANDVIEW
Bechtelsville, PA (October 17, 2020) – Three different winners topped the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Trick or Treat Triple 20s for Modifieds at Grandview Speedway on Saturday Night – with Kevin Hirthler, Ryan Beltz, and Duane Howard picking up the Modified wins. Kevin Hirthler would add a Sportsman victory to his tally for the night, winning that 20-lap event, as well. A field of fifty Modifieds took part in the event along with thirty-three Sportsman. This was the third event of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series of 2020 at Grandview in a season abbreviated by the current virus. On a cold night for racing, the show started promptly at 6 PM and the final checker flag fell before 9:30 PM. This also allowed many race fans to visit their favorite drivers in the pits. A much anticipated event to showcase the Trick or Treat Triple 20’s for the modifieds plus a full program for the sportsman leading up to their 20 lap feature event. Each Modified feature will pay $2,000 to the winner and with thanks to Pioneer Pole Buildings, a $2,500 bonus is posted to any driver who can sweep the three features making the hat trick work $8,500. BECHTELSVILLE, PA – August 27, 2020 – A wild finish and wet weather highlighted a thrilling night of racing at Grandview Speedway, on Thursday, for the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Thunder Cup presented by Levan Machine & Truck Equipment. Grandview Speedway and Thunder on the Hill pulled off another upset, beating Mother Nature, her rain, thunder and lightning to complete the double header event by 11 PM. And the show was a thriller on an exceptionally well prepared and fast track. The thirty lap USAC Midget event, dubbed the Ken Brenn Midget Masters was nothing short of a barn-burner as Chris Windom and Tyler “Sunshine” Courtney battled for the victory. BECHTELSVILLE, PA (June 30, 2020) – A late-race slider led Elks Grove, California’s Kyle Larson to a $10,000 win in the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speed Week event presented by Red Robin. Ryan Watt of Boyertown, PA picked up the NASCAR 358 Modified victory and $3,000 at Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, as part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. With scattered showers over Grandview Speedway from noon to 7 PM, the track crew and staff of Thunder on the Hill was determined to get this event in the books. And they did. The win also earned Kyle Larson his place on the Greg Hodnett Cup and perpetual trophy. Hodnett, a six-time Thunder Champion and nine-time Thunder on the Hill feature winner was remembered Tuesday night after losing his life in a racing accident in 2018. READ MORE... |

It has been a long wait, but the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series should finally open and will showcase one of the premier events of the series, Speed Week for the 410 Sprints plus 358 NASCAR Modifieds, taking place at the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, June 30. The show will start at 7:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM. The 410 sprints will take part in Time Trials, heat race events and a “B” Main leading up to the 35 lap Hodnett Cup feature event. For the 358 NASCAR Modifieds, they’ll be competing under their weekly rules and will qualify through heat race events, a consolation, and a 30 lap main event that will carry NASCAR points. THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES EVENTS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Thunder on the Hill Racing Series events are held at Grandview Speedway, one of the most historic and celebrated dirt track venues in the Northeastern United States. Located just east of Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile, high-banked clay oval that has hosted continuous professional stock car racing since opening in 1963.
Built by Forrest Rogers and operated by the Rogers family for multiple generations, the speedway has become known for its exciting, close-quarters racing and deep roots in grassroots motorsports. The track features weekly competition in divisions such as Modifieds and Sportsman and hosts a variety of special events and touring series throughout the season.
