POINT CHASE DOWN TO ONE RACE AS RAIN WASHES OUT SATURDAY NIGHT RACING

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 26, 2006 . . . Rain has tightened up the point chase at Grandview Speedway.
With NASCAR Modified and Late Model racers looking forward to the next to last point race of the season Ma Nature had a different idea and dumped some rain on the one-third-mile, banked clay track forcing track operator Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday night  program of racing.
?We had the makings of a great evening of racing. The point chase is close in both the Modifieds and the Late Models,? said Rogers. ?Now Ma Nature has made it an even closer battle with just the races next Saturday night to decide the titles. That is going to be a very exciting night of racing.
?It is disappointing that the Maverick?s Motorcycle Club Night had to be postponed. We will try to do something with the couple shows we have left. They had some great plans for tonight raising money for the Alex?s Lemonade Stand cancer charity.?
Racing action returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 2nd at 7:30 p.m. with Chad Sinon Motorsports/BPG Racing sponsoring the night for NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models. Doug Manmiller leads the NASCAR Modified standings with Craig VonDohren close behind in second. In the Late Models it is Chuck Schutz, the point leader, in a close battle with six feature winner Randy Stoudt.
The Modified Champion earns $10,000 for the title. In addition the champion gets to take a guest with him on the 10-day Champion?s Cruise as a guest of the speedway. The trip is worth in excess of $3,000. The cruise out of New York City stops at six Caribbean Islands. More than 50 people will be part of the trip and there are just three cabins still open for the trip. Telephone Marilyn Saxton at 215.752.2392 for more information. At present Craig VonDohren is seventh in the Division II NASCAR standings and that can be worth about $8,000 to him at the end of the season.
Those not involved in the point chase will be looking to improve on their finishing positions for the season and using the race to get ready for the rich T.H.Properties Freedom 76 Modified Classic coming up on Saturday, September 9th. That race will be $20,000 to the winner.
Lap sponsorships at $10 and $25 are available by telephoning Ernie Saxton at 215.752.7797.
