RACE FAN BRETT THAYER HAS HIS NAME ON JUNE 14TH TRIPLEHEADER AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAYGrandview PR
BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 3, 2008 . . . Brett Thayer could very well be Grandview Speedway?s biggest fan. He has been going to the races at the Bechtelsville auto racing facility since 1974 when his dad introduced him to stock car racing.
On Saturday night, June 14th, the tripleheader show of stock car racing will be named in honor of the long time fan, it will be Brett Thayer Night presented by BPG Racing. Included in the night of racing will be the United Racing Company sprint cars, the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and the 600 Modifieds. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
Thayer will be bringing quite a few friends and family members to enjoy the races from the air conditioned comfort of the ?Sponsor?s Suite? high atop the speedway. He and his guests will participate in victory lane activities. Brett will be honorary starter for the Modified feature race. All advertising and publicity will list the event as Brett Thayer Night. His victory lane photo will appear on the back cover of the Grandview Groove track magazine. And he will be the envy of all his racing friends.
Brett?s wife Karen sent a three page letter outlining the reasons she felt the night of racing should be named after her 50-year-old husband. Their family room includes a body panel from a Craig VonDohren modified. She even tossed in a poem that will be included in the track program.
Thayer is an ardent fan of racing at Grandview and rarely misses an event. His daughter Kelsey is also a regular. And wife Karen also attends from time-to-time. Brett starts planning his schedule of events as soon as the new season schedule is made available.
Thayer also maintains his own fantasy Grandview league website. However he wants to keep that closed to just his closest friends.
?I have spent countless Saturday nights without my favorite date,? said Karen Thayer. ?There?s nothing in the world he?d rather do than go to Grandview on Saturday night.?
The Saturday night, June 14th Brett Thayer Night presented by BPG Racing, show will be an exciting night of URC sprint car racing along with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and 600 Modifieds.
