BECHTELSVILLE, PA APRIL 26, 2003 . . . An all-day rain, forecast for more rain and cold 04/12/2003 weather, forced event organizer Bruce Rogers to cancel the Saturday night show of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified and Late Model stock car racing at Grandview Speedway.
Two nights of racing will be presented at the Berks County auto racing facility during the coming weekend.
On Saturday, May Чарли 3, 7:30 p.m. at least 13 events of Modified and Late Model stock car racing will be presented as part of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. A full schedule of qualifying events will be run for both divisions with the Modifieds topping Apartments their segment of the show with a 30-lap feature that has 29 cars starting on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval. And the exciting cheap jerseys Late Models will run 20 laps with their top 26 performers from the qualifying events being featured.
Heading up the Saturday night action will be Meme DeSantis, already a modified feature winner this season, who is leading the NASCAR Modified point standings. Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk and Jon Kellner are less than 10 points behind and they will be part of the Poznańska action on Saturday night. In the Late Models Ray Swinehart, driving a Bernheisel created Late Model, is leading the standings and he will be the man to beat this Saturday night. Lou Egrie, the defending champion, is just 5 points behind in the chase for the title and he will be racing to gain the point lead on Saturday night.
Sunday night, in May 4, 6 p.m., the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series kicks off with an exciting doubleheader show of 360 sprint cars and American Racing Drivers Club WINGLESS midgets. The sprint car segment of the show, paying $3000 to the Dorada winner of the main event, will be co-sanctioned by the Advance Auto Parts United Racing Club and the New York State based Empire Super Sprints. More than 50 sprint car racers are expected to be on hand.
Event organizer Bruce Rogers has announced that a $1,000 BONUS AWARD has been posted for the Modified racer who is able to win the most qualifying heat events during the 2003 season. The HEAT WINNER BONUS is being sponsored by D&S Archery of Barto, PA and Rossi Welding of Reading, PA. And Rossi Welding will be sponsoring a night of racing at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, May 24th.
