RAIN WASHES OUT SATURDAY NIGHT NASCAR STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 3, 2006 . . . A couple days of rain and predictions for even more rain in the evening forced promoter Bruce Rogers to cancel the tripleheader card of racing (NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Legends cars) scheduled for Saturday night (June 3) at Grandview Speedway.
?We had rain for a couple of days that turned the track into a sea of mud. And today we had on-and-off showers that just made it impossible to even get on the track,? said Rogers. ?We figured we would call it early and not force fans and racers to have to waste gas coming out to the track and have the show cancelled.?
Racing action will return to the one-third-mile, banked dirt oval on Saturday, June 10th when the very popular United Racing Club sprint cars will be featured in a tripleheader card of racing action sponsored by Zuber Realty of Boyertown, PA. In addition to the sprint cars there will be NASCAR Modifieds and 600 Modifieds.
?We are looking forward to running well at Grandview on Saturday night. It might even be a winning night for our team,? said former Grandview stock car racer Ed Aikin who is now one of the top competitors with the United Racing Club. ?Our team always looks forward to racing at Grandview. It is where I won the Late Model championship years back. This is our home track.? Aikin will be just one of more than 30 sprint car racers expected to see action on Saturday night.
Aikin has won in a sprint car in the past at Grandview Speedway.
Meme DeSantis will be looking to increase his point lead in the NASCAR Modified standings. More than 50 Modifieds are expected to see action.
The Saturday night show, with a 7:30 p.m. starting time (warm-ups at 7 p.m.), will offer more than 15 events of racing including the 600 Modifieds.
Zuber Realty will have close to 100 employees and friends enjoying the night of racing with many getting to serve as honorary race starters and celebrating with the race winners in victory lane.
Coming up on Saturday, June 17th Norris Mechanical Contractors will present a night of NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock car racing.
WNPV-AM Radio (Lansdale) will sponsor the June 24th show of Modifieds and Late Models and they are planning some surprises for fans.
The month of June action at the Berks County oval closes out on Tuesday, June 27th when the 410 sprint cars headline the Penna. Sprint Speedweek action. The American Racing Drivers Club wingless midgets will also be part of the 7:30 p.m. program of racing.
