Bechtelsville, Pa. ? Five-time and defending point champion Jeff Strunk was a spectator the last two outings at Grandview Speedway as he was among the many on the DNQ list. Saturday night Lady Luck was on his side and gave him a break. Starting fifth in a field of 33 cars, Strunk quickly wrestled the lead away from Jon Kellner Jr. on the second lap of the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series modified feature. Strunk continued to show the way to put the Will?s Equipment/Gold Rush Trailers No. 88 into victory lane to be the first repeat winner of the season in the event sponsored by Zuber Realty.

Kellner Jr. set the pace for one lap before Strunk put the Touch of Green Landscaping machine into the number one spot the second time around.

While Strunk led the way, the battle for the remaining positions was hot and heavy between Kellner Jr., Barry Readinger, Todd Smith and Tom Mayberry.

By the tenth lap Strunk was already catching the slower moving traffic.

The field was regrouped on the 11th lap when Craig Von Dohren stopped between the first and second turn with a flat tire. He pitted, but was unable to rejoin the action in time. Strunk wasted no time keeping the Big Spring Car Wash mount in front of the pack while Kellner Jr., Mayberry, B. Readinger and Smith jockeyed for positions.

John Willman stopped in the fourth turn with a flat tire with 18 laps in the books. Since there were numerous cautions prior to that and they were running against the curfew, the restart went single file. It was still Strunk in control when action went green again.

The real race was going on behind Strunk between Kellner Jr. and Mayberry for the runner-up spot. This allowed  Strunk to open up some daylight over his fellow competitors while the pair dueled.

In a few laps Mayberry and Mike Bailey were dicing for third which Bailey moved into on the 26th lap.

The top five behind Strunk consisted of Kellner Jr., Bailey, Mayberry and Tracy Readinger. It was a tight battle and either driver was just waiting for a slip-up.

Strunk never surrendered the lead and went on to claim his 35th Saturday night career win trailed by Kellner Jr., Bailey, Mayberry and T. Readinger, who all posted their best finishes. Rounding out the top ten were Jon Kellner, Meme DeSantis, who started 30th; Sean Merkel, Todd Marburger and Doug Manmiller, who took a wild ride in the third consi and used a provisional in his back-up car.
