RACE DATES FINALIZED, THUNDER SERIES TO OPEN THURSDAY, APRIL 22 WITH USAC NON-WING SPRINT NATIONAL TOUR & 358 MODIFIEDS

BECHTELSVILLE PA . . . . The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series is in high gear for 2021 with an action packed line-up of high profile events showcasing the 32nd season of this popular racing series at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA.

NAPA Auto Parts has been part of the Thunder Series since the early 1990’s and has been a great partner in the growth of the Series. The Thunder Series will open on Thursday night, April 22 when the USAC Non-Wing National Sprint Car Series invades Grandview Speedway in a double-header event with the 358 NASCAR Modifieds, getting underway at 7:30 PM. The second event is set for Sunday night, May 30 (Memorial Day weekend) with the running of the Big Block/358 Modified Triple 20’s joined by the Sportsman and the Outlaw Vintage Racing Series. This event will start at 7:30 PM. Race three is the Jesse Hockett Classic, featuring the USAC Non-Wing National Sprint Car Series “Eastern Storm” on Tuesday night, June 15. The USAC Sprints and 358 Modifieds will make-up this traditional fan favorite event with the green flag falling at 7:30 PM.

Tuesday, June 29 will mark the return of the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speed Week event, dubbed the Hodnett Cup paying $10,000 to the winner of the 35 lap feature event. This event is presented in the memory of local sprint car great and former Thunder on the Hill Champion, Greg Hodnett. The 358 Modifieds will also be on the program with a 7:30 PM.

The USAC Midgets are returning to Grandview for the Ken Brenn Midget Masters on Tuesday night, August 3 in a double-show with the 358 Modifieds. The USAC Midgets are perfect on the high-banked one third mile Grandview oval. Thursday night, August 26 Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champion sprints will hit the “hill” teaming up with the 358 Modifieds. In 2020, this race was a thriller with Danny Dietrich take the lead and the win in the final laps from All Star Champion Aaron Reutzel. Race time is set for 7:30 PM.

The season finale is set for the Saturday night, October 16 with the MODS at the MADHOUSE Triple 20’s for the Big Block/358 Modifieds joined by the Sportsman. In 2020, the Triple 20’s event was a big success, attracting a field of fifty modifieds. Kevin Hirthler, Ryan Beltz and Duane Howard shared the Triple 20’s victories with Kevin Hirthler earning the 2020 Modified Thunder on the Hill title Race time is scheduled for 6 PM.

In the thirty-one previous years, there has been 140 Thunder on the Hill events with the payout in excess of $4,976,000. The all-time Thunder on the Hill feature winners list is a who’s who of dirt tracking racings’ local and national stars. THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES EVENTS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

Thunder on the Hill Racing Series events are held at Grandview Speedway, one of the most historic and celebrated dirt track venues in the Northeastern United States. Located just east of Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania, Grandview Speedway is a one-third-mile, high-banked clay oval that has hosted continuous professional stock car racing since opening in 1963.

Built by Forrest Rogers and operated by the Rogers family for multiple generations, the speedway has become known for its exciting, close-quarters racing and deep roots in grassroots motorsports. The track features weekly competition in divisions such as Modifieds and Sportsman and hosts a variety of special events and touring series throughout the season.
