BIG EVENTS AND VARIETY AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IN AUGUSTGrandview PR
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 26, 2007 . . . NASCAR Modified racers will be battling for $10,000 to win, one of the biggest payoffs of any dirt track stock car racing events in the Mid-Atlantic states, on Saturday, August 4th. Stauffer Construction of Gilbertsville, PA will be sponsoring this annual Forrest Rogers Memorial, a 50-lap feature race, for the fourth consecutive year.
Over the years many of the best known names in the sport have won the event and several will be returning to try for another big payoff including Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren, Meme DeSantis, Kerry Kratz, Terry Meitzler and others. Interesting to note is the fact that Duane Howard, one of the hottest talents in dirt track modified racing this season, has never won this rich event. He will be looking to change that when action gets underway on Saturday, August 4th at 7:30 p.m.
Stauffer Construction will pay for the first 200 youngsters, 6 through 11, to see the race. Adult admission for the doubleheader show, featuring the Modifieds and Late Models, will be $20. Rain date is Saturday, August 11th.
Cornerstone Auto Sales of Fleetwood, PA, a weekly supporter of stock car racing at Grandview, has posted a $100 Hard Charger Award for the Modifieds while Beer City of Quakertown, a new supporter of NASCAR stock car racing at Grandview, has posted cash Hard Luck and First Alternate awards.
The Late Model stock cars will be in the limelight on Saturday, August 11th, when the Memorial Classic for Late Models is presented. The 30-lap race, paying at least $1000 to win and $100 to start the feature, is being run in memory of past Grandview Speedway racing heroes, officials and supporters of the sport that have passed away.
Cheers Tavern will be sponsoring the qualifying heat races in memory of track employee Jerry Glase. Kochel Equipment will sponsor the Cash Dash in memory of Late Model racer Chuck Sennott. A number of other special awards will be announced.
The Memorial Classic for Late Models, created by Mark Garman, will be part of a tripleheader show that will include the NASCAR Modifieds and Rolling Thunder Legends.
USG Night on August 18th will feature the NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models and Xcel 600 Modifieds. Dover International Speedway will be part of this special evening with some fan giveaways.
A special Thunder on the Hill event, co-promoted by Bruce Rogers and Bob Miller, will be presented on Tuesday, August 21st and will include five 25-lap features for the 410 Sprints, 358 Modifieds, 600CC Sprints, Rolling Thunder Legends and Xcel 600 Modifieds.
Mid-Lantic Machine, a first time event sponsor, will have the NASCAR Modifieds and Late Models in action on their night, August 25th.
The final point event of the season for the Modifieds and Late Models takes place on Saturday, September 1st. Green Lane Wm. Penn/ Four Star Lettering will sponsor that night of racing excitement.
Coming up on Saturday, September 8th, is the THP Freedom 76 offering $20,000 to the winner of this Modified Classic. Lap sponsorships are currently available at $10 per lap with laps 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 going for $25.
