BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 12, 2007 . . . You would think Ma Nature would have been in a good mood since Mother?s Day was the very next day. However Ma Nature proved to be in a bad humor as she brought heavy rain to Grandview Speedway on Saturday night (May 12th) forcing postponement of the NASCAR Whelen All American Modified and Late Model stock car racing events.
Three Late Model qualifying events had been completed with wins going to defending champion Chuck Schutz, Brian Shuey and Mark Malcolm. One qualifying heat race for the Rolling Thunder Legends had been won by Mark Schaffer and a second event was on the track when the rains came turning the one-third-mile, banked clay oval into a sea of mud.
Next Saturday, May 19th, the Modifieds and Late Models will return. The Legends will not be able to return until their next scheduled appearance which is set for July 21st as part of Jesse Baro Trucking Night.
The NASCAR Modifieds will run all their qualifying events topped off by a 30-lap feature starting 28 racers. The Late Models will have their 20-lap feature to run. Racing will get the green at 7:30 p.m. The Saturday, May 19th events will be sponsored by Auto Locator Magazine.
Modified point leader Meme DeSantis will be looking to pick up his first feature win of the season and current Late Model point leader Randy Stoudt will be looking to add to his already impressive resume of career victories.
All rain checks are good for the Saturday, May 19th show or they can be used for the May 26th Arnold?s Go Kart Center Night.
Fans are reminded that the nationally famous World of Outlaw sprint cars will be action at Grandview Speedway on Wednesday, May 23rd. They will go up against the always tough Pennsylvania Posse sprint racers in a full series of qualifying heats leading up to an exciting feature event.
