MUD AND RAIN WIPE OUT NASCAR STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAYGrandview PR
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 13, 2006.? Heavy rain during the day created very muddy conditions at Grandview Speedway but track operator Bruce Rogers and his crew made a valiant effort to get the one-third-mile, banked clay oval in shape for Saturday night NASCAR stock car racing.
With just about all his heavy equipment at work Rogers and his track crew spent close to 90 minutes trying to create a racing surface that would be suitable for the great stock car racing that is seen at the Berks County oval each Saturday.
However all the hard work just wasn?t enough as Rogers finally had to give in and cancel the NASCAR Modified and Late Model stock car racing show. And it was none too soon as a heavy rain started to fall on the track just minutes after the show was cancelled.
?At least we gave the fans a chance to make a quick exit before the rains came, ? joked Rogers. ? This is our third rainout of the season. Let?s hope it is the last one for this season. We would have had a lightning fast track if we could have gotten started earlier but it took us a while just to be able to get equipment on the track because of the wet conditions.?
