RACING RAINED OUT AT GRANDVIEW, SEASON FINALE ON SATURDAYGrandview PR
Rogers is best known for sticking it out to the bitter end before calling a show because of weather but Friday night rains had turned the track and the surrounding speedway grounds into a sea of mud. The weather forecast did not call for anything but more rain, so Rogers not knowing, even if the rain stopped, if he could get the track into racing condition, decided to cancel early.
“It was the best decision to make. There was no use in having fans and racers sitting around all day waiting to see if we would get a break and be able to race. Everything we looked at regarding the weather for the day indicated that it was going to be a rainy and cold day. We tossed in the towel early,” said Rogers.
The final regular season Saturday night show, featuring open competition Modifieds and Late Models will be run on Saturday, September 25th with a 7 p.m. starting time. It is expected that there will be outsiders testing their talents against the Grandview regulars in this non-point event. The open competition format gives the racers an opportunity to test some “ideas” for the 2005 season.
