Five time NASCAR Modified Champion Jeff Strunk will be in action at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night and at Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night.
Ending rumors that were being circulated that Strunk would not be racing this weekend Strunk has been able to put together a Modified for this weekend?s racing action. Strunk will be going for his third win in a row at Big Diamond Raceway this evening and then head to Grandview Speedway trying for his first win of the new season.
Strunk and his backers have been able to purchase the Modified that he had been driving for Johnny Rea in early season action. He has been able to claim two feature wins at Big Diamond Raceway with the car but suffered a ?blown engine? at Grandview Speedway last Saturday night.
Principals in the new team, with Strunk as the driver, will be Matt Reidenauer (owner of Touch of Green Landscaping and a former long time sponsor of the sport), Glenn Hyneman (well known stock car owner) and Will?s Painting.
?We have been able to put this together very quickly. Strunk approached us on Tuesday,? said Reidenauer. ?We have been able to borrow a motor and we have gotten some volunteers to provide a hauler and some other equipment. Once we get the first weekend over we will put together some plans for the balance of the season.?
Donald Miller, who has been involved in the sport in a variety of positions, will be the team manager.
?Jeff and all of us involved are really looking forward to this weekend with races at Big Diamond and Grandview Speedway,? said Reidenauer. ?It is going to be fun to get back into a sport that I have been away from for a number of years.?
Additional information on the new team will be announced in the very near future.
