BECHTELSVILLE, PA  . . . . . .   “No excuses, we just got beat,” said Andy Hillenburg after Steve Kinser made a last lap pass to win the 30 lap World of Outlaw event at Thunder on the Hill/Grandview Speedway Tuesday night, May 31, 1994.   This was the first Thunder event of 1994 as the CRA event in early May was cancelled due to rain.   The WoO event was a thrill with Kinser pleasing the crowd with a last lap move. 1993, YEAR 4 OF THUNDER ON THE HILL,  PAUCH WINS CRA & KING OF THE HILL, KAUFFMAN & RAHMER SPLIT TWIN 20’S & THE LIGHTS GO OUT, EASH SCORES FIRST THUNDER WIN

BECHTELSVILLE, PA    1993. . . . . .  The fourth season of Thunder on the Hill opened with the CRA (California Racing Association) non- wing sprints for a $10,000 to win payoff in the 30 lap main event that attracted a field of thirty-eight non- wing sprints. GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY COMPLETES YEARLY RULES MEETING – SPORTSMAN TO HAVE TWO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES, SEVERAL UPDATES INCLUDED FOR MODIFIED TEAMS, AS PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED 602 ENGINES ONLY FOR SPORTSMAN COMPETITION IN 2024, 602 SPORTSMAN CLASS WILL NO LONGER USE SAIL PANELS STARTING WITH 2024 RACE SEASON

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – The management of Grandview Speedway has recently completed their yearly rules meeting with track technical officials, which has resulted in several changes for weekly competitors at the one-third-of-a-mile high banked raceway.

The Sportsman division will see two notable changes for the upcoming 2024 race season. The first change was announced to the racers at the beginning of July 2023 which will see the elimination of the use of open motors for the division, and a switch to the GM 602 engines only for competitors starting with the 2024 season. BECHTELSVILLE, PA      Rain has often made an appearance at Thunder on the Hill and after rain delayed the feature event on June 11, Thunder on the Hill and Grandview Speedway were all set  with twin 35 lap features on Tuesday night, July 30.  This night came off after yes, a 70% chance of rain on race night.   In the 35 lap 410 Sprint make up feature, Steve Smith charged from his tenth starting position to take the lead on lap twenty-eight and become a repeat Thunder on the Hill feature winner. BECHTELSVILLE, PA    It was Tuesday night, September 18, 1990 when the second Thunder on the Hill event was presented at the Grandview Speedway.   Driving the Glenn Hyneman 410 Sprint Car, Billy Pauch thrilled a full house with a last lap pass to earn his first Thunder on the Hill victory.   Pauch started fourteenth in a field of twenty-four cars in the 35 lap main event.   Steve Stambaugh driving the Apple Chevrolet was the early race leader quickly being challenged by Fred Rahmer and Chuck Reinert. THUNDER ON THE HILL AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY, IT ALL STARTED IN 1990

October 9, 2023. . . . . . Leading up to the opening event of Thunder on the Hill in 2024, we will take a look back at the thirty-four year history and the 152 races that were presented at the Grandview Speedway.   This series started after a meeting in mid-June 1990 at the Bally Hotel with Grandview Speedway Owner Bruce Rogers, Modified/Sprint Car driver Dave Kelly and race official and publicist Bob Miller.  The decision was made to give one race a try on Tuesday night, August 7, 1990.  “ At this meeting, we laid a foundation that today supports some of the region’s most prominent auto racing events,” said  Bob Miller. “The story of Thunder on the Hill over the past three plus decades is fascinating, and one that I relish the opportunity to share. I’m fortunate, that my time in racing offered me the opportunity to watch all the years of the  126 movement.   As a race official in some capacity, and at different tracks in the area, I have personally seen the impact this team had on local racing.  Glenn and Boneita always pushed the envelope to be a better team always in the chase of a win, and in turn, they elevated their competitors both on the track and in the pits.   It goes without saying, they made race tracks, organizations and officials step up their game as well. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule this event due to the fact that both Dave and I have prior commitments over the next few weeks .
Our next scheduled event will be Friday night October 13 and Saturday night October 14 !
Over the next few weeks, we will begin advertising those two events for the Tim Pauch Memorial Races !

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Taking the lead with six laps remaining in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified feature event, Tim Buckwalter of Douglasville, Pa. raced to his first win of the season and third career victory Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

Buckwalter was in a multi-lap duel with Ron Haring Jr. of Alburtis, Pa., when he pulled a slider on Haring Jr. entering turn one on lap 24 to secure the lead, then worked through lapped traffic in the closing laps to become the season’s tenth different T.P. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Point leader Brett Kressley of Orefield, Pa. completed his pass of Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa. following a multi-lap duel for the lead with just two laps remaining, and went on to score the win in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified feature Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

Carroll Hine III of Reading, Pa. and Watt were locked into a battle for the lead, while Kressley joined the action up front on lap 19. Watt secured the lead on lap 21 with Kressley following into second on lap 23. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – On what looked to be a sunny day with a possibility of a passing thunderstorm, the passing storms arrived at the worst possible time, forcing the postponement of the scheduled Forrest Rogers Memorial for T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

With the track prep crew on track and preparing for the evenings program, the skies opened with a significant amount of rain falling in a short period of time, leaving management with the unfortunate choice of postponing the evenings events to next Saturday, August 19. There was also consideration given to the fact that there was still the chance of more storms during the later part of the evening, which would have made getting everything done a long shot after a late start to the program from the late afternoon storms. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Jeff Strunk of Boyertown, Pa., who has been a model of consistency all season long finishing all race events in the top ten except one, won out on a three-way battle for the lead to score the win in the 30-l ap T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified feature Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

Strunk started fifteenth on the grid for the feature event, and soon became part of a seven-car battle for the lead position. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Craig Von Dohren of Oley, Pa. ended a 2023 season win drought when he scored his first win of the season in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer Modified feature Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.

Starting thirteenth on the feature grid, Von Dohren worked his way to third by lap thirteen, which then set up a battle with Ryan Watt of Boyertown, Pa. for second and then Jeff Strunk of Boyertown, Pa. for the lead which he was finally able to take on lap 18, then spent the remaining laps of the feature holding back their challenges to score his first speedway win since his Freedom 76 win last September. BECHTELSVILLE, PA (June 13, 2023) – The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series kicked off the Amsoil National-touring USAC Non-Wing Sprint Car Series Eastern Storm on Tuesday night at Grandview Speedway in a spectacular double-header with the 358 Modifieds presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings.    The 40-lap USAC Jesse Hockett Classic was won by Jake Swanson collecting a $6,000 payday for his first Thunder on the Hill win, while the 358 Modified main event was won by Jeff Strunk claiming his 17th Thunder Series victory in the special event series.  Strunk, driving the Glenn and Bonita Hyneman #126 earned $3,000 for his win in the 30 lap main event.  A total purse in excess of $45,000 was distributed with thirty-one USAC Sprints and thirty-two 358 Modifieds taking part in the big evening of racing.  A well prepared racing surface delivered a great night action for both divisions. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – After an exciting opening last Saturday, Grandview Speedway is ready to present the second weekend of racing for the new season.

This Saturday, April 15 will see a two-division program of racing under the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series banner for the T.P. Trailer Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman. Each division will run qualifying races leading to the 30-lap Modified and 25-lap Sportsman man events.Race time on Saturday night is 6 pm. The Speedway successfully completed the annual open practice session last Thursday evening two days prior to the scheduled opener, but morning rain followed by strong storms in the evening at race time wiped out the program, and forced management to utilize the rain date of this Saturday, April 8 starting at 6 pm. After receiving significant rain overnight into the morning hours, leaving the race track facility very wet, and a forecast including high winds and possible severe storms at race time this evening, the decision was made to postpone the season opening Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Grandview Speedway kick started the 2023 race season with an open test and tune session Thursday evening and is now all set for Opening Night on Saturday, April 1.

The pit area was busy, as 78 cars participated in Thursday night’s open practice, which was held on a week night after the original practice date this past Saturday was washed away by rain. Drivers were shaking down their racing equipment to prepare for the upcoming season of racing. A hearty group of fans were on hand on a breezy and very cool early spring night to witness the strong field of competitors practice, giving indication that the upcoming season should be getting off to a good start.
